“Tapping on the meridian endpoints sends a calming response to the body, and the amygdala recognizes that it’s safe. What’s more, tapping while experiencing—or even discussing—a stressful event counteracts that stress and reprograms the hippocampus.”
— Nick Ortner, CEO of the Tapping Solution
EFT tapping supports nervous system regulation
Drawing on the wisdom of traditional Chinese medicine, EFT tapping combines evidence-based research with modern psychology. Though the trauma-sensitive technique is performed while focusing on stressful materials, the meridian point tapping stimulates the vagus nerve, calms the amygdala response, and reduces stress and cortisol levels.
The 2019 Australian Psychologist of the Year, Associate Professor of Bond University, Dr. Peta Stapleton, labelled EFT tapping “the fourth wave of psychotherapy”. Validated in over 100 clinical trials, the research has measured EFT’s positive effects on gene expression, brain waves, hormones and neurotransmitters.
With support from a trained facilitator, EFT tapping leads to significant improvements in symptoms of anxiety, depression, phobias and PTSD. A study on veterans with PTSD saw a 50% reduction of symptoms after only 6 sessions, compared with conventional treatments and a control group, who saw little to no significant changes.
